The impact one word can have on your New Year’s resolutions

One of the coolest and most unique things about Maskcara’s Artist Program are the tools and support that come practically built in when you start your business. Not only does becoming a Maskcara Artist give you the opportunity to set goals within your business, it also allows you to set goals within your personal life, and to feel excitement and growth in every part of your life.
With a new year comes the inevitable New Year’s resolutions. Whether you’re a fan of them or not, Cara’s advice to you as an Artist is to not set too many resolutions for yourself that you get overwhelmed. It’s easy to want to improve on every aspect of your life with this new beginning we get each year, but setting too many resolutions can more often hinder your business than help it. You will benefit far more from setting two to five things you want to work on - and really putting all of your attention into them - rather than having something new you’d like to work on each and every day.
Cara’s advice for setting a New Year’s resolution is to pick one word that you focus on throughout the year. It helps to set the tone for how your year is going to go, and on top of that, it’s easy to remember. Choosing one word can also help you to shape and focus your other goals, which might make it easier to accomplish your resolutions in the long run. And the best part? If you forget your word or stray from your path a bit, it’s easy and simple to get back on track. It’s just one word, afterall. It’s more effective to implement small changes sometimes than it is to make one big drastic change at the beginning.
Furthermore, Cara mentions how important it is to be kind to yourself. Life happens, and sometimes resolutions take a backseat. This is okay, and should not be something that you beat yourself up over. However, Cara cautions to not let this become a habit, as breaking promises to yourself can sometimes result in you losing faith in yourself. The more you break these promises, the easier it gets and seems to happen more frequently. We’ve all had those friends who bail on us last minute, which, over time, we sadly come to expect. You don’t want this to be the way you view yourself - keep the faith, get back on track, stick to your promises, and you’re well on your way to crushing your 2020 goals.
